Occupational Therapists help plan and supervise activity programs designed for people with temporary or permanent physical, psychological or mental disabilities. It acts to improve the adaptation of these individuals in his or her daily life, to facilitate their integration into their environment, and to achieve the optimal development of their abilities while adapting to their limitations.
The Occupational Therapist is involved with stimulating the need for autonomy, and to put in place the necessary conditions for their own responsibility. As well, to help individuals with the full development of their potential and their social integration.

Abilities and skills required:
- Collaborate with other health care professionals
- Conducting patient environmental assessments
- Conducting patient assessments
- Putting the rehabilitation plan into action
- Motivating the patient and getting them to commit to change
- Complete evaluation reports and patient files
- Ensure the maintenance of patient records
- Write letters to physicians
- Participate in professional meetings
